HRTG Update July 2020

HR Tech Group Update
July 2020

Hello everyone,

We have an exciting milestone this month within our Diversity and Inclusion Tech Project.

Our D&I Resource HUB will be launched at the end of the month!

Thank you to the companies who generously provided content to be shared. The team is doing final site edits and loading content. You are invited to join our July 29th D&I Tech Project Coalition Meeting where we’ll be providing project updates and a demo of the site. Registration details here.

2020 continues to challenge us as HR professionals and as humans.

Several members have recently been inquiring about anti-racism and diversity and inclusion resources. The new Resource HUB will of course be a valuable resource. Our benchmarking toolkit is also a valuable resource which can be used at any time. Your peers are another resource and you’ll have opportunities to share and learn together as part of the Special Interest Group we are forming that will be focused on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Summer is HR Tech Group membership renewal time. The billing contact for your organization will have received our invoice in mid-June. Please note that membership renewal payments are due August 1st

Fourteen companies joined our association during Q2! In the Greater Vancouver area, we welcomed Infobip,RESAASBritewebRaymond JamesEcoationRival TechnologiesNew/ModeGreenlight InnovationDNEG and Samsung.

On Vancouver Island we welcomed Latitude Geo and in Alberta, we welcomed NurevaAltaML and Replicon. A warm welcome to you all!

Despite the restrictions on physical gatherings, Q2 was a busy quarter for HR Tech Group training and events. We held webinars on mental health, remote recruiting and legal issues during a pandemic. Our Special Interest Groups (including a COVID-19 specific one) met more than usual, as we all grappled with new challenges. Our AGM went online, and we held our first ever Virtual Summer Social. Three virtual training modules, provided complimentary by Kwela Leadership and Talent Management, were a hit with participants.

As we look forward, we see virtual events continuing for quite some time. Given that, our Steering Committee is building a virtual conference strategy for 2021. This fall, we will be partnering with Kwela to provide a virtual Leadership Development Program for new leaders in tech. Stay tuned for details on this. It will provide a great opportunity for your  company to invest in the development of some of your up-and-coming diverse leaders.
